The History of Lord & Evans Paints |
Lord & Evans Paints has been preserving the historical fabric and color of the Lowcountry’s treasured homes and buildings since the company was founded as Wm. M. Bird & Co. in 1865. It is the originator of an array of traditional and historic colors applied and admired by people not only regionally but all over the country.
Lord & Evans Paints has earned a widely respected reputation for service and quality in every aspect of its operation of eight stores in the Carolina Lowcountry. The area historically addressed as the Lowcountry runs along the Atlantic Coast from about Wilmington, NC, through Charleston, SC, into Georgia and the far-northern reaches of the Florida coastline. The Lowcountry, as its name implies, is very low and very flat, snuggled up against the warm waters of the Atlantic, the broad deep rivers and tidal creeks, and the shimmering marshlands. It is an area defined by the water and by the deep history of the families and culture which have been nurtured by its traditions.
From the docks of Wilmington, the fishing villages of Murrell’s Inlet and Mt. Pleasant, to the urban sophistication of Savannah and Charleston, the Lowcountry has produced the leaders of our nation from its birth to the present. It is more than a region or place; it is creative, it is alive, it is fun, it is fishing and hunting, it is Cotillion, it is shrimp ‘n grits, it is life for those who live it and enjoy it!
Charleston, SC is without question the Belle of the Lowcountry. Her historic buildings and streets are framed by a marvelous expanse of rivers, beaches, islands and marsh. Many of the classic paint colors used over the history of this great city were created, and re-created, in our shops and enjoy increasing popularity today. The style and cache´ reflected in the best of Charleston is universally recognized and sought after in furniture, architecture, and especially, in colors.
Enhance the beauty of your property by visiting one of our convenient locations. We will happily share with you our colors, advice and expertise, and allow you to share the classic style emanating from the Lowcountry.
